Gold being yellow by nature, must be alloyed with a white metal (most commonly nickel) to create a white gold, but white gold is never truly “white” and usually has a yellow tone to it.
Rhodium is the fifth of the five precious metals, the others being, gold, silver, platinum and palladium. Rhodium is chemically inert, corrosion resistant, and one of the most white reflective metals. Rhodium plating gives white gold that glittering white effect which helps to make diamonds look bigger and whiter! Since rhodium is chemically inert, a rhodium plating also prevents contact with the nickel content of white gold, which can cause allergic reactions in some people.
